More Photos From Flea Market/Antique Shop

Here are some photo I took at the Flea Market/Antique Mall where I bought the Chandelier I posted about yesterday. I really likethe place. It was fun to go to. Not as fancy as many of the places around here, but most places do not have "Flea Market" added to their sign either. Some collectables, some junk, some Shabby Chic, fun stuff, weird stuff, good stuff, etc. And some bargains!

I thought this was cool.

Love these lamps.

Beautiful figurine. Growing up, my next door neighbor had this type thing all over her house. George and Martha. Love the lamps in the back ground as well.

Another pretty lamp.

Here you can see the lamps better.

Another colonial lamp. I am falling in love with these lamps. Do I feel another collection coming on?

I took this photo for Shannon.

It is not a Singer. :-( Looking for a Singer!

Now I cannot believe that someone painted this!!! But, uh, I don't think I am interested in it. I was on a 'hunt' for a chandi anyway. And this place seems to be full of them.

Many many bird cages in this place. I have 4 birds. And I have 4 bird cages. And I do not have room for a cage that is not practical for a bird. I love the look though and if I did not have birds... or if I only had one... or a bigger house....

I think this was an umbrella/hat stand and rocking horse repurposed together. Big price tag too!

I had this on my blog yesterday... it was displayed under...

this.... hahahah!

I don't know why I took a photo of this. Just like it I suppose.

I have some more photos I will share at a later time and some photos of the items that I purchased. :-)

Shopping & Thrifting!!!

School is back in session and I have a little more time to myself, so one day after going to an antique shop, I thought I would stop by Minerva's.

Minerva's is a fun shop where MacKenzie Child's meet Shabby Chic. I had my trusty point and shoot camera in my purse, so.... I took a few photos.

Rebbecca, the proprietor, purchases items from estate sales, yard sales etc, fixes them, paints them, redesigns them, etc and sells them in her shop.

She also adds a few pieces from market (Atlanta) to sell here and there. Nice little gift items.

I purchased these two little items while there. The blue colander was labeled 'vintage' though many many many years ago, I had one from Crack R Barrel just like it. I think I paid $9.99 for it. (I paid more for this one.) I loved the one from Crack R Barrel and wore it slap out. Been looking for another one ever since. I have a coffee pot that goes with it.
I also got a black photo easel. I love this one and it is very nicely made. I never seem to have enough of them. They are on every horizontal surface in the house and when I do dance school shoots, I collect them all up to display framed samples and signs on. Very handy. And this one is very pretty. I think the prettiest one I have.

She is a big chandelier re-designer. (I bet she is the reason I can't find one around here to re-do myself for my kitchen! LOL!) She usually does not allow photos taken of her shop, but I was using my cheapy camera and not taking quality photos. And I did not take photos of merchandise and designs that I knew were her original ideas. I made sure I asked her permission, I did not have my big honkin pro camera. And she saw me delete a few photos right away when she told me to make sure only general items go on my blog. I can appreciate that

A child's room, a nursery, sunroom, porch, garden, kitchen, dinning room or living room, Minevera's probably has that item you are looking for. They are located in Bluff Park in Hoover (or Vestavia you know how Bluff Park is some is in one city and some is in another..). It is about a block from the Pig!

Inspired to go Thrifting and Antiquing

Inspired by Rhoda's "What's Your Favorite Thrift Find" I was inspired to go to a couple of nearby places.

The first place I went was the Salvation Army.

If you look at this table and chair set, then go to Cindy's My Romantic Home and take a look at her Dining Room Table and chairs....

The caning needs replacing in places. But... made me think, "I wished I needed a Dinning Room Table and Chairs!" Oh well, someone will find this jewel and enjoy fixing it up and have a great time with it. :D

There was also a lovely sideboard in great condition.

Then I went to On a ShoeString Antiques in Bluff Park.
This is the store where I got the Compote and Silver Butter Dish.

There is a lot of Garden Art for sale in the front.

While the front rooms are filled with prime items like a Tiffany Lamp, dishes, collectibles, etc. The back is full of cool stuff that takes little imagination to use. You have to go through the place several times to take it all in. And don't forget the upstairs!
Here are several mantels stacked several deep. A sink... A barbers (or dentist) chair and an adding machine. Behind all those mantels are shelves with more dishes!

I am not sure what this is, but I thought is was neat and decided to take a photo.

There were many cabinets in the back. This one is "Vintage Shabby Chic" complete with contact paper on the door. I guess it was a 'cool' idea at the time. ;-)

Anyone need a nice chair?

Or maybe a Rocker?

Look at all the teacups.
They were in the bathroom.

And this little potty and chamber pot were in the bathroom too!

I was much interested in this little one. I have been looking for any antique hand crank child's sewing machine for a while. But it was a little pricey. Today, I will go to Smocking Arts Guild Meeting. Several of the gals have collected these. I will tell them the brand and ask what is a fair price. If it is good, I will go back and get it. :-P

Of course, I had to go into the caboose! (That is where I found my Silver Plate Butter Dish!)
Everything in the caboose is 1/2 off. There was a lot of silver plate in there. If you needed it, want it and have a place to put it.

Look what I found!!! A plate to match the Compote! (And other pieces that I have, mom gave me.) There are a couple of chips and a corner kinda broken. However, I call that character. :D

Price... $4.00!

If anyone in the Central Alabama area wants to know where or how to get to these items/places, email me or comment and I will email you where/directions.

Have a great day everyone!
