Pink Saturday

Welcome to the first Pink Saturday Post of 2009! Here is Wishing you a Happy New Year.

(Cinderella's Castle during the Wishes Fireworks at Walt Disney World.)

Addendum: Did y'all know that Photoshop does not have spell check? My DH just told me that "Year" is spelled wrong. (Y'all that is a TYPO! I do know how to spell "Year"!) But I do not know how to break down layers.... Now to go back and find my raw file and redo this whole photo... Na! Y'all just have a Happy New Yeay!

Isn't the Castle Pretty and Pink! And covered in Ice Crystals. It is beautiful!!! I still cannot believe how well the photo turned out considering I was hand holding the camera. I barely had a spot to stand. It was so crowded! I am not sure if I have ever seen it that crowded... Well, maybe I have. It is always crowded at Wishes. And I was trying to hang onto my 10 yo. Still got a who series of beautiful photos.

Thank you Beverly for hosting Pink Saturday! To see more Pink Saturday Posts go to Beverly's site, How Sweet the Sound.

Y'all have a great weekend!

Pink Saturday

Good Morning and Happy Pink Saturday!!! Pink Saturday is hosted every week by Beverly of How Sweet the Sound.

If you have been following my blog, then you know that a few weeks ago, I went to Smocking Arts Guild (SAGA) Convention in Atlanta. Fortunately, my roommate needed help at the SAGA Market and so I helped her instead of spending all my money at the SAGA market and going to Atlanta Market. :-) Good thing too! Otherwise I would have had to pass on the bargains I found here at this shop. To know what I am talking about, you will need to scroll down a few posts and read about my trip home from Atlanta and the money I had just burning a hole in my pocket! (I still have most of that money and WDW here we come!!!) On my drive home from Atlanta I found a Flea Market/Antique Mall..... Spent some time there....

Something else I bought at that Flea Market/Antique Mall...
This beautiful clear soup bowl! Isn't it just lovely with all it's shades of Pink!
It is almost flat. Almost. I was going to use it in the China Garden I am starting. (China Gardens do not fade and wither during a drought. Nor do they have to be replanted every year.)
I think I saw on China Garden in Manuela's Blog. She has a beautiful China Garden. There are probably several other china gardens that I have seen photos of as well.

This loan clear soup bowl spoke to me. If there is not enough rain for my roses to bloom, I can still have a rose blooming in my garden, and it will be PINK!!!

Thank you Beverly for hosting Pink Saturday! I enjoyed participating. Please go to Beverly's blog, How Sweet the Sound, and check out the other Pink Saturday Posts and Happy Pink Saturday to everyone!

It's a PINK Clip Board!

Good Morning everyone! Happy PINK Saturday! Thank you Beverly for hosting another beautiful PINK Day!

This is a craft I did a few years ago. I have made several of these over the years. I love them. Who likes to walk around with an ugly old brown clipboard? Next week, I will post a tutorial on them. Or this particular style. Oh, and there is a pencil cup to boot! And it is
PINK!

This is a 'cull' photo of my child. I have several beautiful photos from this shoot. I could not bear to throw it away. But I could Mod Podge.... And it did not go to waste.

The Clip Board has it's own Fru Fru!

I just love the pencil/pen cup. My mom and grandma had us making them all the time as kids, but, they never looked this cool or this PINK!

Oh that black ribbon and the black poka dots make the PINK really POP!!!

A nice gift set for a teacher, grandparent, parent or for yourself!

And this is really PINK!!!

Check back with me next week. I will post a tutorial on Beautifying your own clipboard and making a matching pencil cup. But meanwhile, stop by Beverly's place. She is hosting a wonderful fun PINK Saturday Party at How Sweet the Sound and see all the other PINK
Happy PINK Saturday! Saturday posts!

Flowers from my Yard

It is Pink Saturday!!!
Today, I thought that I would share with you a few photos of flowers that are blooming in my yard. (See why it is so hard to get in the mood for fall decorating with these beauties?)

I love these fuchsia impatiens. I think they are just beautiful. And the rains we have had from the hurricanes have given them a whole new flush of blooms.

I like to plant them with caladiums. They just go so well together. How do you like my little pink tea cup votive holder? I bought several of these about 3 years ago at Old Time Pottery Barn. (I just love that place.) This is the only one that has survived my child and the neighbor children playing in the yard.

I love Vincas. These little pinks with the hot pink centers are my favorite. They are peeking out from some weeds. One thing about rains from hurricanes. Yes they relieve drought conditions, give us an extra flush of blooms and boy those weeds start coming!!! I also gave them a good dose of fertilize just before Gustauv b/c I knew we would get plenty of rain from that one.
This vinca is HOT PINK really HOT PINK! With a pretty pink center. It came out of the camera red, so I did photo shop it a tad. Then I remembered I have a filter on my camera lens. I probably should have taken it off. Will do that next time.

I love pink flowers and usually plant a lot of them in my yard every year. I think they make just a beautiful presentation in any yard.

Happy Pink Saturday Y'all and remember to stop by Bev's How Sweet the Sound to check out all the other Pink Saturday Posts. To find out more about Pink Saturday, clink on the link my my sidebar.

Pink Saturday

It's Pink Saturday!!! I want to share with y'all a few things I have made for DD to wear. She has long since outgrown these, and really does not like to wear solid pink anymore, but I loved the day when it was her favorite color. And she was so precious in it!

In this first photo she is wearing an Heirloom Party Dress. The pattern is from Martha Pullen's French Handsewing by Machine II. It is made out of 100% PINK cotton batiste and french laces. I also did just a little machine embroidery pieces in the yoke and sleeves. I guess to stay with the 'French "Handsewn by Machine"' bit. ;-) LOL!

The second photo is one of my all time favorite dresses. I have made two of them. One for my niece and one for DD. It is from Australian Smocking and Embroidery (I think issue #41, I will have to check) and the design is called Child's Play. I wish I could remember the designers name. If I get a chance to go look it up, I will. The first dress I made like this took me 70-80 hours to smock and embroider all the flowers. That was for my niece. By the time I made this one, I had gotten much faster and not near as picky with my stitches. This is also a black and white photograph/negative printed on fiber based paper. I hand-tinted it with photographic oil based paints. I still do hand tinted photographs. I have my lab print them up for me digitally now. The fabric is 100% PINK Cotton Batiste with an English Netting overlay based and pleated onto a bishop dress. The sleeves are pleated and smocked as well.

Y'all have a Happy Pink Saturday! And stop over at Beverly's at How Sweet the Sound and see all the other Pink Posts. :D

Pink Saturday

It is Pink Saturday hosted by How Sweet The Sound. Here is my Pink photo of the day.

It is a Pink depression glass cabbage rose bowl. My mom gave it to me when we 'downsized her'. (she gave me a few other pieces as well, but I will save them for another post.)

And guess what? I think it goes perfectly with the pink rose that is in my Eastfair by Noritaki stoneware. :-) Don't you?

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great and blessed weekend!
